Affordable Restaurants in Kowloon - My Cantonese Food Adventure

Monday, December 2, 20130 comments

Though Hong-Kong offers a variety of cuisine for tourists to choose from, still for many of us what does really matter is our budget. If you’re a food enthusiast who doesn’t want to spend much, you don’t have to worry because Hong-Kong is just perfect for you.

Among all the places in this city, I think it is in Kowloon that you can find the best tasting foods on a very reasonable price. Restaurants can be found almost in every street in Kowloon; most of these food establishments are located in Mong Kok. Mongkok is a small area in the Yau Tsim Mong District on Kowloon West. Apart from being a dining destination this area in Hong-Kong is also a shopping haven for tourists.

During our first night in this city we got no choice but to simply dine in a fast-food restaurant (McDonalds.).But since are tourists at that time we have to take it to the next level and explore other options. Among all the restaurants that we visited I think it’s the food in Tai kok tsui municipal food court that I enjoyed the most. The foods served there are definitely authentic Cantonese dishes. What is even more interesting about this food court is that the price is so affordable. The reason why the foods are a lot cheaper in this food court is due to its proximity to Tai kok tsui wet market.

Things to remember:
Always bring your Credit Card
When you’re travelling keeping large amount of paper bill in your pocket can be so annoying. I know as tourists we are afraid to run-out of money while shopping or dinning but bringing large amounts of money is not just vexatious, it’s also risky. It would be more convenient to simply bring a back up credit card rather than bringing huge sum of money.

Avoid Computing HKD to PHP.
If you want to enjoy your travel 101%. It can be very helpful not to constantly compute HKD to PHP.

Learn Some Cantonese.
Believe me learning some Cantonese words and Phrases is ain’t that difficult at all, thanks to Cantonese app developers learning  this language is just one touch away.
